TWO PEOPLE arrested at a primary school have been released without charge.

A 20-year-old man and 16-year-old boy, both from Hove, were arrested on Wednesday after reports of a motocross vehicle being stolen.

The owner of the bike reported the theft to police, saying he had been threatened with a hammer and a knife when he attempted to retrieve the bike from a van in the Stanmer Park area. 

Sussex Police said they responded to the reported threat of violence and acted on the vehicle description and individual named.

A pedestrian was hit by a police car in Bear Road, Brighton, which was responding to the incident.

The 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft of a motor vehicle.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

The pair have since been released without charge.
