A WOMAN is seeking “four burly young men” who vanished after descending “like angels” in the night to fix her broken car.

Pauline Perkins, a pensioner from Eastbourne, wants to thank the men for answering her prayers and rescuing her on Sunday evening.

She was driving down the A23 in the rain when her Vauxhall Corsa clipped the kerb at a junction.

Mrs Perkins burst a tyre and her car became stranded on the island between lanes.

She said: “I was so shocked my hands were shaking. I called the AA and they said it would take them an hour and a half to arrive.

“Just as I was on the phone, four burly young men came across the road offering their help. In no time these four guys had steered the car out of danger and changed the wheel.”

Mrs Perkins said the men, who she believes are from Brighton, fetched the correct tools and made sure the coast was clear so she could get back on the road.

She said: “I offered to pay them, but they refused. That really showed the goodness of their hearts.”

Mrs Perkins would like to thank the men once more in person.

She said: “If anyone knows Nathan, Tom, Rick and Shane, please congratulate them and thank them again for me. They were like angels sent in answer to my prayer for help and enabled me to return home safely.”

Mrs Perkins said this was not the first time she has been saved by “angels” on the road.

She said: “My late husband and I were driving in the Spanish mountains around Santander some years ago. The roads were icy and suddenly the car skidded. I was terrified we would crash into the oncoming traffic. But just then, I felt a great arm come down from the heavens to shield us.

“When you’re helped at times like this, it makes you confident God really does send angels to protect you.”
