Kano

Brighton Dome, Brighton, Sunday, October 6

A POPULAR grime artist will play one of his biggest tours to date this autumn.

Rapper Kano will play the Brighton Dome on Sunday, October 6.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, July 26.

When the grime genre first started in East London it was most definitely an underground scene.

Now, however, grime is one of the most popular genres in the UK... with thousands of people flocking to see the likes of Skepta, Wiley and most notably Glastonbury headliner Stormzy.

Kano is one such artist who made a name for himself in the east end of London, in the early Noughties, and has now gone on to become a national star.

His laid back vocals are a refreshing change of pace.

Like many grime artists, it is Kano’s dedication to the genre that is the most impressive thing.

He started his early career in 2000, with his debut album, Home Sweet Home, coming out in 2005.

The record peaked at 36 in the UK charts, an impressive accomplishment for an underground artist, and since then his stock has continued to rise.

Of his further four records it is 2016’s Made in the Manor that has performed the best, charting at eight in the UK charts.

This new tour will see Kano celebrate the release of another new album, Hoodies All Summer, which is due for release in August.

The album is expected to perform well, as is the tour.

On his last headlining visit to Brighton in 2016 Kano played at the 600 capacity Concorde 2.

While that is no mean feat in itself, the move up to the Brighton Dome shows a significant rise in popularity for the rapper.

Other dates on the tour will see Kano perform in Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham before culminating the autumn run with a show at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall. If that isn’t enough of a statement about how far grime has come not much else is.
