THE star of a hit Channel 4 show will headline a special music show this weekend.

Daniel Wakeford, who found love on The Undateables, will perform at the Rock House Festival at the Green Door Store, Brighton on Saturday night.

The show is run by Carousel, a charity that supports people with learning disabilities in achieving their artistic goals.

Daniel, who is from Brighton, has been a member of the charity for a number of years.

The singer, who has autism, first appeared on The Undateables in 2015 and immediately became a favourite with the British public.

He showed off his musical talents on the show and wooed his date, Lily, with a song.

It clearly worked as the couple are still together now and memorably got engaged on the show in December 2018 after more than a year together.

Daniel said: “Proposing was exciting and I was very pleased Lily said yes.”

The singer, whose video of the song It’s a Wonderful City was shot in and around Brighton, has not written any new music since the couple have been engaged but is eager to get back on the stage and play his songs for the hometown crowd.

He said: “I am very excited to be performing at the Rock House Festival. I like to perform in Brighton with all my friends.

“Carousel is really good, they help lots of people like me to play their music.

“Carousel gave me the chance to play at local events and my first festival.

“I also met the members of my band through them.

“It’s a really cool night with lots of great artists, solo singers and groups.”

Daniel’s time on The Undateables has made him a much-loved and well recognised figure in the city.

He says that he is often approached by fans who he loves taking selfies with.

Daniel also thanked the show for giving publicity to his self-penned song Playboy Girls, which was played on the show and became extremely popular on the music streaming site Spotify in the following weeks.
