A CONTROVERSIAL car parking company is to be stripped of its contract after complaints from shops.

One Parking Solutions is managing the Coast Road car park in Peacehaven.

It serves a number of shops and is dubbed the “Greggs car park” by locals.

But after a number of complaints, the company has been told it is to lose its contract after claims its methods were putting off shoppers.

Labour MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle, who pushed for the decision, said he wants the company “chucked out” of the area entirely.

He said: “The shops have been expressing great displeasure at the way the company is managing the car park.

“There’s no flexibility with the company and you hear stories time and time again – it’s giving the area a bad reputation. And as far as I’m concerned One Parking Solutions are unpleasant bullies.”

The place serves as a place to park for shoppers wanting to visit the nearby Co-op, Costa and Greggs.

In March, single mother Taryn Norris who had to stop her car to deal with her diabetic

daughter’s medical emergency was given a £340 parking fine.

And in June, pensioner Eddie Harwood was fined £100 after he pulled out of a parking space for just three minutes to collect his wife.

Mr Russell-Moyle said: “I do not have time for them and I would like to see them chucked out the city.

“I will be speaking to Brighton and Hove councillors to see if we can push them out of the city.

“The new management company of the car park will be given strict instructions to serve the businesses.”

Residents have reacted to the news online.

One person said: “I stopped using Greggs because of the parking situation. Greggs’ loss.”

Another said: “I’m looking forward to the complaints about parking with people moaning their car is blocked in or damaged.

“Or ‘I can’t park because someone taken up two bays’.”

There is no suggestion that the car parking company acted illegally.

The Argus contacted One Parking Solutions but it said it was unavailable for comment.
