AFTER drawing close to 100,000 people to her “legends slot” performance at Glastonbury, Kylie Minogue is preparing to dazzle as she headlines Pride 2019.

The Australian superstar will close the Saturday of the festival on August 3.

The 51-year-old has the unenviable task of following Britney Spears, who drew more than 50,000 people to Preston Park for the festival last year – but as long as she remembers where she is, unlike Britney, she will be OK.

Kylie’s headline slot at Pride In The Park will be in support of her latest album, Golden, which was released in April 2018.

It is her 14th studio album since starting her glittering pop career in 1988.

However Kylie was already a star long before releasing her first song.

In 1986 she was cast in the hit Australian soap opera Neighbours.

She played tomboy mechanic Charlene Mitchell and was embroiled in a storyline romance with Scott Robinson, played by fellow actor-turned-singer Jason Donovan.

After leaving the show to pursue a singing career, Kylie’s self-titled debut album was released in July 1988 and spawned the number one single I Should Be So Lucky.

Enjoy Yourself in 1989 also charted at number one in the UK but it would be another 12 years before she would top the charts again, with 2001’s Fever.

The success of that album was in no small part down to the success of the album’s leading single, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, and the accompanying music video which went viral years before going viral was even a thing.

In 2005 Kylie was diagnosed with breast cancer and, having had the all clear for nearly 15 years, has become an activist for fighting the disease.

Her 2005 cancer diagnosis forced her to miss what was due to be her inaugural headlining slot at Glastonbury Festival.

Speaking to the Glasto crowd about her diagnosis and missing the festival, she broke down in tears reliving those moments and said how grateful she was to be performing on the Pyramid Stage.

Kylie was joined on stage for her set by Brighton resident Nick Cave, as the pair performed Where the Wild Roses Grow. Will Nick join Kylie at Pride? I guess we will have to wait and see.

There are also rumours, or rather hopes, from fans, that Kylie will once again don her famous gold shorts for the Pride set.

With a glittering career that has lasted 30 years and counting, the LGBT community will be out in force to celebrate one of their biggest celebrity supporters this year – it’s a show not to be missed.
