UNTREATED sewage spilled into the sea for more than ten hours according to the Environment Agency.
After a power failure at Southern Water’s wastewater treatment works on Saturday, sewage flowed into the sea west of Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne.

An Environment Agency spokesman said an investigation was ongoing.
“EA officers have taken seawater samples from Eastbourne and Pevensey to aid our investigation,” he said.
