A SCANDAL-HIT immigration centre made £14 million for the company that runs it.

Brook House Immigration Removal Centre, next to Gatwick airport, made £14.3 million profit for security company G4S between 2012 and 2018.

The Argus can reveal 15 complaints alleging assault were made by inmates between August 2017 and August 2018.

But G4S said all complaints were thoroughly investigated and were found to be false except for one.

The facility houses inmates who are in the process of being deported.

Phil Wragg, director of the centre, said: "All incidents are reviewed to ensure that those involved receive immediate support.

"A log of any allegations from either staff or detainees is shared with the Home Office who review it regularly.

"G4S staff work hard to provide a safe and secure environment for the men in

our care, often in complex and challenging circumstances."

A Home Office spokeswoman said: “We are not able to comment on individual cases because of data protection legislation.

“We can confirm all complaints were thoroughly investigated by our professional standards unit.”
