MAJOR road improvements could be on the way in Sussex.
Transport for the South East, which manages roads, had prioritised improving the A259
between Brighton and Eastbourne.
The organisation, a partnership between councils, businesses, and transport companies, also wants to bolster the A22 in Wealden. East Sussex county councillor Rupert Simmons, head of economic policy, said the improvements would be “vital” for the economy.
He said: “If approved for funding, these improvement schemes would have a significant impact on two major routes through the county.”
The A22 scheme would see improvements at the Boship roundabout near Hailsham, the Eagles roundabout, and the junction with Hampstead Lane.
The two Golden Jubilee Way roundabouts with the A27 and Dittons Road would also be bolstered.
The A259 scheme will improve public transport.
