TWO acts will play intimate shows next month.

Seventies rock group 10cc will play the Komedia in Brighton, while singer Hollie Cook, formerly of punk band The Slits, performs at the Prince Albert pub in Trafalgar Street.

Both shows are on Wednesday, September 25, and tickets go on sale on Friday.

The events are being organised by Nordoff Robbins, the UK’s largest independent music therapy charity, as part of its Get Loud campaign.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the work Nordoff Robbins does using the power of music to “enrich the lives of those affected by life-limiting illness, disability or isolation”.

Get Loud will see 12 bands and singers perform at 12 intimate venues across the country.

At the same time 10cc and Hollie Cook are on stage in Brighton, Louise Redknapp (London), Frank Turner (Portsmouth), Scouting for Girls (Harrow) and Sigala (Liverpool), will be performing their own tiny shows.

All the proceeds from every gig will go directly to Nordoff Robbins.

A spokesman for 10cc said: “We feel privileged to be able to take part in the Get Loud campaign and help to raise awareness for the amazing work that Nordoff Robbins does with music therapy.

“Music is a kind of therapy for us too and so it’s wonderful to see that it can have such a dramatic effect on young people who have difficulty communicating in other ways, and that participating can bring them so much joy.”

Hollie Cook said: “The music we create is a real representation of a person – an outlet for personal creativity, thoughts and feelings.

“The more music I make the more personal and true the representation of myself is, and that is so valuable to me. I can completely relate to what Nordoff Robbins offers in music therapy to those really struggling – an opportunity for true self-expression.”

Since Get Loud started in 2016, the charity has celebrated the power of music with some of the most influential names in music, and raised £280,000 in the process.

Julie Whelan, chief executive of Nordoff Robbins, said: “Our Get Loud campaign gives us the chance to highlight the way in which music can truly enrich the lives of people facing some very difficult challenges, and promote the work we are doing in communities right across the UK.

“We thank all of our Get Loud artists for joining us this year – together, we look forward to celebrating the work of Nordoff Robbins, and promoting the incredible power of music.”
