A THUG who attacked a woman and trashed her living room has been jailed.

Glen Chapman attacked the woman, who The Argus has chosen not to name, in Burgess Hill.

He damaged the living room wall and a lampshade inside.

The 38-year-old appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court where he was found guilty of assault and admitted criminal damage.

The court was told the attack happened in front of a six-year-old child.

Court documents show it was a “prolonged and sustained assault”.

Magistrate Zsa Roggendorff was told Chapman, of Newton Avenue, East Grinstead, has a record of previous offending.

He showed a “flagrant disregard for people and their property”.

She ordered Chapman to pay £500 compensation for the attack, which was reported in September last year.

He was jailed for a total of 16 weeks and put under a restraining order not to contact the victim.
