BEER enthusiasts will soon be able to quench their thirst with something new as a brewery prepares to open.

Born-and-bred Brightonian Jordan Mower will be providing his exotic craft beers at the new UnBarred brewery, in Elder Place, Brighton.

He said: “It all started back in 2014 in a small kitchen in Hove.

“I was head brewer for a place called Two Tribes and was just making my own stuff in my kitchen and back garden, but recently we have been producing on a much larger scale and sending our beers as far as Hong Kong.

“Now I am looking forward to serving them to people in Brighton.”

The new drinking hole will be replacing the current Holler Brewery and Taproom.

Jordan said: “The head brewer at Holler has recently stopped producing beer and has stepped down, so I have joined forces with Holler directors who wanted a change and now we will be brewing UnBarred beers on site.

“I can’t be more touched by my new partners and team from Holler that have put all their trust and support into helping make this next chapter of UnBarred happen.”

Jordan’s range includes a Cold Pressed Summer Stout made with coffee beans steeped in pacamara cherries.

He said: “I was inspired to make this stout after we found the Gold Coffee Mountain in Nicaragua, an organisation that helps the local communities that produce the coffee beans, which we use when making our beers.

“All the profits will go back into the community.”

Other refreshing drinks on the menu include a mango Pale Ale and a chai latte beer.

Jordan said: “We have lots of ever-evolving brews.

“In the new taproom where we will be serving the beers, we will only have one core beer, and the others will be constantly changing, to keep things interesting and to keep us in a position where we are supporting lots of different projects that help us get the ingredients to make the beers we make.”

Jordan has also joined up with Sussex-based brewery Bison Beer, which has stores in Brighton and Hove, to make a honeycomb milkshake beer using Sussex honey.

The site in Elder Place is due to be renovated next week during which a “secret garden” for a relaxed drinking space will be built.

UnBarred brewery will then be up and running, serving 15 different beers for enthusiasts to enjoy at their launch party weekend from August 23 to 25.

It will also provide non-alcoholic options including sodas made by the brewers on site.

Jordan said: “We also have pop-up food stalls and axe throwing coming to the launch, and some other great London breweries will be serving their beer including Kernel.”
