A PHOTOGRAPHER has won a national award for one of his “holiday snaps”.

Hugo Healy took his stunning photo of Indonesia’s largest waterfall, Tumpak Sewu, during his travels across Asia earlier this year.

Now the image has won Hugo, from Brighton, the #Aerial2019 photo competition organised by Agora Images.

It has earned the 23-year-old nationwide acclaim and a £1,000 prize. He beat nearly 13,000 other entrants to win.

Over the past three years, Hugo has been gathering an outstanding selection of aerial photos thanks to his time spent travelling Asia, UK and Europe.

The waterfall is on the island of Java.

Hugo went to Hurstpierpoint College and Brighton Film School and splits his time between working on his filming and being a part-time fireman in Henfield.

Hugo said: “Ever since I brought a drone three years ago I have wanted to capture the world from a unique angle and light and share how beautiful and colourful our planet is in order to inspire others to get out and explore.”

He uses the drone to capture spectacular aerial shots and pictures Sussex beauty spots as well.

His shot of Cuckmere Haven was taken in such a way that, in his words, it “looks like it could be South America instead of Sussex”.
