MYSTERY surrounds the future of a popular Brighton nightclub after the organisers of a club night said it was closing.

According to a Facebook post by The Haunt’s club night More Human Than Human, the venue in Pool Valley will become an extension to the casino which already exists next to it.

“We are here to let you know that sadly after eight and a half years of wonderful partying, The Haunt Brighton is due to close its doors for the last time ever on August 31,” they wrote.

“In the end, the venue (like so many) was lost after the landlord decided he would prefer the space to be used as something else.

“In this case, it will become an extension to the already existing casino next door.”

They added: “We are sad to see The Haunt go.”

But when contacted by The Argus, the team that runs the club’s Facebook page said the venue was not closing.

They said: “I can say the Haunt isn’t closing. We will contact you in the next 24 hours with an official statement.”

In June, the club said it was going to move into the old Days restaurant – formerly the ABC cinema – in East Street.

The bar was granted a licence from noon until 11pm, with no spirits on sale.

Neighbours in Clarendon Mansions were worried about another pub with late hours in East Street, with their concerns including noise such as empty bottles being put out for collection.
