YESTERDAY’S fantastic A-level results show what a fine bunch of young people we have all over Sussex.

Parents should be proud of the ambition and determination of those who worked hard in their exams this year.

These students deserve everything their hard work has earned. Now they definitely have the right to party.

Travelling across Brighton and meeting young people has been a humbling experience for our reporters.

We have all been through A-levels at one point or another and we know how stressful they can be.

So to see so many students come out of their colleges smiling has been both a relief and a privilege for our reporters.

The talent in our city is undeniable. Whether it is future doctors, nurses, scientists, or artists, it is clear so many young people in Brighton have both the attitude and the determination to succeed.

Often they get the blame for our city’s problems, but today is a testament to the fact that the majority of students in our city are fantastic people.

It has been inspiring to hear their aspirations and plans before they spread out to universities across the country. They will certainly be fine ambassadors for Brighton.

And for those who did not get the results they wanted: do not panic.

University is only one avenue to make yourself successful. Whether it is taking an apprenticeship, going into work, or taking a gap year, everyone has their own areas where they shine.

Our city’s future is safe in our young people’s hands.
