AFTER a summer break with most of the family at home, the return to school or work can cause anxiety for furry pals.
Stress can be an all-round issue for pets but some times are worse than others.
And while it can affect any kind of pet, these separation issues are most likely to be found in dogs.
But there are ways dog owners can spot the signs of their pooch having anxiety issues.
Symptoms include increased vocalisation – watch out if they are barking or whining more than normal. Worried dogs may also be sleeping more, have a decrease in appetite and an increase in aggressive behaviour.
Korina Stephens, a veterinary nurse from Nutravet, said: “If you’re worried about changes in your pet’s behaviour, you should consult your vet, who can monitor their health.”
