ALBION striker Glenn Murray had TV fans in hysterics when he asked if he could phone his friend - and club legend - Bruno Saltor during an appearance of A Question of Sport.
The Seagulls player took part in the BBC programme last night alongside Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies, champion sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and three time world snooker champion Mark Selby.
The 35-year-old, who was the top goalscorer for Albion last season, got stuck when asked: “Since 1980 which of these teams has won the La Liga title in Spain on the most occasions?”
The three options given were Barcelona, Real Madrid or everyone else.
Team captain Phil Tufnell joked: “If only we had a footballer on the team” to which Murray replied: “Can I phone my friend? Can I phone Bruno Saltor.”
Murray’s team went on to answer correctly with Barcelona, who have won the title 17 times.
Bruno was captain of the Albion until the end of last season, when he took on a development role within the club.
Following the appearance, Murray tweeted: “Thoroughly enjoyed myself on the iconic Question of Sport.
“Gutted to lose but great experience regardless.”
And fans were quick to praise the footballer.
One said on Twitter: “Haha, as if he just asked to phone a friend. Did he get the wrong show?”
Another said: “Glenn Murray on Question of Sport is everything.”
A third wrote: “Glenn Murray on ‘Question of Sport’. That must be a first for a #bhafc player.”
Albion take on West Ham in their first home game today.
A Question of Sport is hosted by Sue Barker with team captains Phil Tufnell and Matt Dawson.
