A MAN suffered minor injuries after a stunt went wrong at an airshow.

A parachutist landed on the beach instead of in the sea during Eastbourne’s Airbourne on Friday.

In a statement The Tigers Army Parachute Display Team said: “The team member who landed to the eastern edge of the drop zone today, has suffered only minor grazes and is receiving a precautionary medical assessment.

“We would like to thank the police and St John’s Ambulance Service who co-ordinated a fast response to the incident.”

Emergency services were called to the scene of the incident.

Airbourne is one of the world’s biggest airshows, with stunts performed over the sea over the course of four days.

This year is the 27th year of the airshow. This year’s displays included the Breitling Jet Team, RAF Typhoon, Chinook, The Blades, Wingwalkers and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
