A GROUP of travellers were ordered to leave a village green by Sussex Police.

The force received a series of complaints from residents living near Southwick Green reporting antisocial behaviour linked to the camp.

A spokesman said: “On Monday police served a notice on a group of travellers requiring them to leave the site.

“Some ten vehicles had been on the local council-owned site since Thursday, August 15, and a number of reports of anti-social behaviour stemming from the encampment were received from local residents.

“The Notice, under Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act, required the travellers to leave the location with their vehicles, and they did so by 4.40pm.

“Police kept residents informed and worked closely with both Adur and Worthing Council and West Sussex County Council.”
