A MUSIC teacher has called thieves “evil” after hundreds of pounds worth of teaching equipment and props were stolen from her car.

Maya Wolff, 33, right, said she was horrified when she realised someone had broken into her car in Lewes Crescent, Brighton, where she lives.

She said: “My first thought was that my nephew had made a mess before we left, but then I realised my car had been broken into.

“I don’t know of any other incidents that have happened recently in the area, but it’s still a shock.”

Among the items stolen were a PA system worth £200 and a pink suitcase full of teaching props.

Miss Wolff, who teaches at schools across the city and is also a songwriter and creative business owner, had left her car securely parked last Tuesday evening and discovered the break-in the next day. She said: “The bizarre thing was they didn’t touch any of the wigs I had left on the back seat, which were far more valuable.

“I won’t be leaving anything in my car overnight any more, even in the covered boot. I thought this was a safe area, but I won’t be making that mistake again.”

According to crime statistics from Sussex Police, there were 69 reported incidents of theft in Kemp Town between January and June.

A police spokesman said: “Anyone with information about the incident is asked to report online or call 101 quoting serial 897 of 14/08.
