A TEENAGER was threatened with a knife at a parade of shops.
Police are investigating the incident at Avis Parade, Newhaven at 6pm on Friday, August 16.
A 14-year-old boy was reportedly threatened with a knife by an older teen.
The suspect was with a group of four other youngsters, and threatened the victim.
Police say it was a “frightening experience” for the lad, who had to escape on his bicycle.
Inspector Ed Ripley said: “This is an appalling incident and I’m keen to identify and take action against those responsible.”
He said a police team is working with young people to explain the dangers of carrying a knife, while officers have used stop and search powers.
“We will continue to target individuals and areas in Newhaven where young people gather.”
Meanwhile PC Tom Bowen has appealed for witnesses.
He said: “This was a frightening experience for the young boy, who was thankfully not harmed, and we are making active enquiries to identify this group and in particular the boy with the knife.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to report it online or call 101 and quote 1095, of 16/08.
