ON THIS day ten years ago The Argus went to see a man training to swim with sharks to raise money for charity. We caught up with drag queens putting on a Sound Of Music show and saw firefighters attempt to break a world record
Many of Brighton’s drag queens and cabaret artists performed a one-off Sound Of Music special
The Sound Of Music raised funds for the Brighton Aids Memorial
The cast are seen here dressed as the Von Trapp family
Then Stephen Winn, 38, from Angmering, got close to sharks, turtles and tropical fish in the hopes of raising £500 for Leukaemia Research
Stephen prepared for the challenge at Brighton’s Sealife Centre
Stephen, centre, Rob White, left, and Jonny Simpson-Lee of the Brighton Shark Dive company prepared for the dive
And finally Jake Grey, three, and his mother Mary went to Hove community fire station to see a world record attempt
The firefighters were attempting the longest distance travelled by firefighters down a firefighters pole. Daniel Lane, 13, was there to watch
