I AM WRITING in response to recent articles in The Argus relating to Shoreham.
It has a vibrant busy arts centre, Ropetackle, with films, music, comedy for all tastes including a children’s programme.
Events are regularly sold out and people regularly come from London.
It has an amazing cafe culture with all independent businesses flourishing.
People come from all over Sussex to visit its markets.
There is so much fresh produce on offer from local growers.
It’s considered by many to be an enviable place to live in. Property prices reflect this.
Could somebody please tell me the reason why Adur District Council is intent on destroying this?
It is not supportive of Ropetackle when it brings in so much other income to the town.
By increasing the charges for outside cafe seating, coffee prices will go up and people will go elsewhere.
It has been instrumental in the over-development of the area with so much housing and an Ikea. There is no infrastructure to support these developments.
Roads are already polluted and over-used.
Soon it will not be an attractive place to live in.
Most of us know the story of the killing of the goose which laid the golden egg and how shortsighted it was.
Perhaps somebody could explain this to our local councillors.
