ANGRY campaigners have set up a petition calling for the removal of a wall surrounding a fountain.
Last month The Argus reported on traders’ anger over the glass wall put up by the Coppa Club in The Lanes, Brighton.
It surrounds the dolphin fountain in Brighton Square. The Coppa Club does not require permission for the structure, the council confirmed.
But traders have demanded that the restaurant owners at Coppa Club tear it down.
Sarah Horne has set up a petition on change.org calling for its removal.
She said: “Over the years we have all enjoyed visiting the Dolphin Fountain in Brighton Square.
“It has always been accessible to the public and is my three-year-old son’s favourite piece of art and landmark.
“The Coppa Club have boxed it in glass walls and have kept the key, so that this is no longer a public attraction. They put up their walls up without planning permission.
“It’s time someone made a stand and I ask will you join me in signing my petition to take the barricades down?”
Coppa Club says it is creating an al fresco dining area, with the dolphin fountain as the focal point.
