PROTESTERS have pledged to create a "people's Parliament of Brighton ahead of further "stop the coup" demonstrations tonight.

Campaigners will gather outside Brighton Town Hall in Bartholomew Road at 6pm today to oppose Prime Minister Boris Johnson's five week suspension of Parliament, announced last week.

It is set to be attended by more than 100 people.

An organiser of the event said: "We ask that all who oppose this blatant power grab by Boris Johnson to once again come together and stand united against it's suspension.

"We kindly ask that you leave EU flags at home.

"The reasoning behind this is because there are many who voted leave who disagree with the suspension of parliament, we want to stand as a united front against this attack on democracy.

"This protest will hold no allegiance between any political groups.

"Envisage this to be much like what Caroline Lucas said at the last protest.

"We are making our own parliament, the people's parliament of Brighton and it's being erected right outside Brighton Town Hall."

The group will meet at 6pm to "become acquainted with the march chants".

Then at 6.30pm they plan to "collectively engage in an act of public disruption".

The organiser said: "We will be engaging in a small act of public disruption.

"There will not be long talks, it will be about taking action.

"We asked for your feedback from the last demonstration and your voices have been heard.

"There will be a short turn around between beginning to march and turning up on time, please keep this in mind."
