A NEW Netflix show is being filmed in the city.

Cosiez Café in St James’s Street will become the set for part of the new psychological thriller Behind Her Eyes – an adaptation on the number one best-selling novel of the same name.

The cast features Game of Thrones star Robert Aramayo, Vanity Fair lead Tom Bateman and Eve Hewson, who recently featured in the box office version of Robin Hood alongside Jamie Foxx and Taron Egerton. Bateman, engaged to Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, also starred in ITV’s Jekyll and Hyde.

The mini-series will tell the story of single mother Louise, played by Simona Brown of The Night Manager, who has an affair with her psychiatrist boss David (Bateman) but goes on to befriend his wife Adele (Hewson).

Part of the filming will take place at Cosiez Café today, with Brighton’s Upper St James’s Street closed from 8am to 6pm.

Owner of the cafe Melissa Werner said: “They’re coming down to film the six-part psychological thriller Behind Her Eyes and they’ll be doing a few scenes in the café.

“Yesterday they were dressing the café up ready for filming, and today they’ll be filming all day. It’s not too disruptive as it’s just for one day and I think it’ll be very good for the area.

“It’ll bring some money in and it’s very exciting.”

The show is being produced by BAFTA nominated producer Steve Lightfoot, who worked on other popular Netflix series such as Narcos and The Punisher.

It was announced in January of this year, with the plot being described as a “dark, psychological tale of suspense and twisted revelations”.

A spokesman at Brighton & Hove City Council confirmed the road would be closed most of the day.

They said: “We are aware that filming is taking place today and tomorrow.

“Film crews often come to Brighton so it’s not an unusual event and it’s something we try to encourage and facilitate.”

There is no set release date for the series.

It is not the first time filming has taken place in the city. Last year, passengers at Brighton station saw the vintage 1940s costumes, cars, and set for the film Summerland. Stars who appeared in the flick included former Oscar winner Sir Tom Courtenay, former Bond girl Gemma Arterton, and Dame Penelope Wilton from Downton Abbey.

BBC series Silent Witness was also filmed on the beach.
