NETFLIX filmed part of their new psychological thriller in Brighton yesterday.

Behind Her Eyes is the streaming company’s new six-part mini series, telling the story of a single mother who has an affair with her psychiatrist, only to befriend his wife afterwards.

Filming took place in Cosiez Cafe on Upper St James’s Street, leaving the road closed between 8am and 6pm.

The cast features Game of Thrones star Robert Aramayo, Vanity Fair lead Tom Bateman and Eve Hewson, who recently featured in the new version of Robin Hood alongside Jamie Foxx and Taron Egerton. Bateman, engaged to Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, also starred in ITV’s Jekyll and Hyde.

The show was announced in January, with the plot being described as a “dark, psychological tale of suspense and twisted revelations”.

The people of Brighton took well to the filming taking place, describing it as “exciting” and “important” for the city.

Kemp Town resident Hannah Wilson said: “The best thing about this is being able to picture yourself in the right places. I think that with it in Brighton, a lot of people would want to watch that because it’s in their city. Netflix is such a big thing now and it’s only getting bigger so it can only be important for Brighton as a whole.”

Another resident said: “There’s always been filming in Brighton, it’s such a popular place, so it’s definitely a good thing.

“I would definitely watch it.” knowing it’s such a local cafe and we’d be able to spot it.”

Yet despite this, filming has caused some trouble for people around the area, with another Kemptown local Sarah saying: “It’s a bit annoying that the parking’s out for me, I only live round the corner and we pay for a permit so we expect to park here but we can’t today.

“But I haven’t seen any behind the scenes of filming like this for a while and it’s just so exciting to see it in the smaller streets in Kemptown.”
