EXTINCTION Rebellion is planning to target the Labour Party Conference.

The environmental activists are planning to take action on Sunday September 22 as Jeremy Corbyn opposition party arrive in the city.

They will march from the Peace Stattue on Hove Lawns to the Brighton Centre – where the conference is being held.

The march will then move onto the Old Steine, where Extinction Rebellion will create a pop-up space so that politicians, other activists and passers-by can find out more about the rapidly-growing global climate movement.

Local supporters are being asked to take part in the campaign until the conference ends on September 25.

Spokeswoman Claudia Fisher said; “We want the Labour Party to make the climate crisis the number one concern at this conference.

“We are asking all our neighbours and friends in Brighton and Hove to come along on the 22nd – to help us demand that the Labour Party set a target of net zero carbon by 2025. In true Extinction Rebellion style, this march – and subsequent action – will be peaceful, family-friendly, colourful and fun.”
