DRAMATIC footage has emerged showing the moment two men were arrested at gunpoint following a murder in a block of flats.

Armed cops stormed the flats in Stafford Road in the early hours of this morning shortly after they found a man had been stabbed to death.

One neighbour, who did not want to be named, told The Argus: “It was about 2:15am and I was still awake.

“Suddenly I heard quite a loud bush rustling sound in my neighbour’s backyard.

“I wasn’t sure what to make of it and then about three minutes later the police are ringing my doorbell banging on the front door.

The Argus:

“We let them in and they dashed to our backyard.

“One grabs a ladder to peek into the next yard. He sees someone and says stop, get down. More police arrive in the house, with others dashing to Exeter Road. At least a dozen officers. They start entering houses to get various vantage points of the backyards.

“Over the radio, they are alerted that the suspect is wearing a red T-shirt.

“Not long after, they are in the backyard of the house diagonally across from me and they’ve got a guy “That is when the video was shot.”

A man in his 40s was found in the flats with "serious head and chest injuries".

He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, but was pronounced dead at 3.50am.

When police arrived, two men fled from the flat and escaped across gardens in Stafford Road.

Two men were arrested in nearby Exeter Street at 2.30am.

Officers have cordoned off the streets surrounding the crime scene.
