EASTBOURNE is one of the dirtiest towns in the UK, it has been revealed.

The town came in third in a list of the top ten dirtiest cities and towns in the UK according to the Clean Britain Report compiled by Holiday Cottages.

The report ranks the UK’s cities and towns in terms of the quality of air and water, as well as recycling and frequency of social media updates relating to sustainability.

Narberth in Pembrokeshire was crowned the UK’s cleanest town, followed by Penicuik in Midlothian, and Didcot in Oxfordshire.

Stoke-on-Trent has been named the UK’s dirtiest place, followed by Sunderland, Eastbourne, Nottingham and Leicester.

Holiday provider holidaycottages.co.uk created an interactive map to show the most popular holiday destinations for a staycation in the UK.

The study analyses surveyed data of 2,000 UK holidaymakers, footfall figures and social data to find underrated destinations to holiday across the UK in 2019.
