A BLAZE has broken out in the plant room of a school.

Fire crews were called at 7.40am to reports of a fire in the boiler room of Buckwoods School in Guestling.

Six engines are currently at the scene.

A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “The building affected by fire measures 40 metres by 30 metres and is used as a plant room.

“Crews are using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and firefighting foam and have made good progress in containing the fire.

“There are no reports of injuries. The school has told us it’s running as usual today.”

At 9.40am crews provided an update.

A spokesman said: "The incident has now been scaled down and we have one appliance on scene.

"Crews are currently cutting away and dampening down. A fire investigation is underway."
