POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a passenger was killed in a crash.
Officers were called to a roundabout at Rusper Road and Redkiln Way in Horsham at 11.40am on Thursday.
It was reported there was a hit-and-run at the roundabout.
Then minutes later, the same vehicle crashed with another car in Forest Road, on the towards Pease Pottage.
A 54-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pictures from the scene show the wreckage of the vehicles from the head-on crash, and the road was closed for an investigation.
Police said a blue Nissan Almera had crashed into a blue Ford Transit van at Rusper Road before making off from the scene.
The van driver, a 53-year-old man from Southwater, was taken to East Surrey Hospital with serious injuries.
Then five minutes later the Nissan crashed with a black Audi in Forest Road.
The driver, a 57-year-old man from Pulborough, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, where he remains in a serious, but stable condition.
The occupants of the Audi suffered minor injuries.
Forest Road was closed until 6pm as emergency services attended.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to report information to Sussex Police online or call 101 and quote Operation Hayseed.
