THE police’s use of stop and search powers in Sussex has risen by 37 per cent in the past year.
At a meeting today, Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne will ask whether the practice is effective or legitimate.
Mrs Bourne said: “These figures represent a significant increase in the use of stop and search in Sussex so I want to hear what this is being attributed to.”
The Government plans to expand stop and search.
