A SUPERSTAR DJ has addressed speculation about him releasing a new album.

Fatboy Slim spoke at Lagoon Fest in Hove last weekend about the possibility of a fifth studio album, as well as considering a potential career change.

This comes almost 15 years after his last studio work, Palookaville, which was released on October 4 2004.

This sold more than 60,000 copies in the UK, earning it a silver disc, as well as being nominated for the 2006 Grammy Award for best electronic/dance album.

But the DJ, real name Norman Cook, said with his current commitments finding time for a follow-up album could be a challenge.

He said that “at the moment being a DJ is a full-time job” adding that the travel element can often leave him with little free time.

He pointed to a gig he has later this month which will see him travel to Singapore to play alongside the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Gwen Stefani, Muse and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Away from music Mr Cook runs the Big Beach Cafe at Hove Lagoon, which he bought in 2013.

But he also has his eye on another business venture.

He said: “I’m branching out into art and street art curation rather than a new album.

“I’m more turned on by the idea of that at the moment.”

At Lagoon Fest the DJ posed with several paintings by Brighton-based street artist Cassette Boy whose graffiti can be seen across the city.

The items were placed up for sale, with proceeds going to event organisers Friends of Hove Lagoon to fund a planting scheme in the area.

Mr Cook said: “It’s absolutely vital for work on the lagoon to continue. My kids have grown up playing here. We want it to stay at the centre of the community.

“The area was quite forlorn when we took the cafe over six years ago. So many improvements have been made since then.”
