CHILDREN with disabilities were delighted when Brighton and Hove Albion’s mascot made a surprise appearance on their golf course.

The youngsters were teeing off at Hollingbury Park Golf Club, where they learnt how to putt and took part in a series of games and golf challenges.

Little did they know that Gully the Albion mascot would be there too, golf club in hand, to show them the ropes.

He was helped by volunteers from the football club’s charity Albion In The Community, staff from the club’s sponsor American Express and coaches from Brighton’s junior golf group Jolf.

They provided an introduction to golf and the opportunity to play a round on a specially designed six-hole course.

More than 35 children with disabilities took part in the fun morning with Gully.

This was the third of Gully’s “Big Days Out” this year. Previous appearances have included a rare chance to play on the pitch at the Amex stadium at Falmer and a day of football drills and activities to develop passing, shooting and dribbling skills at the Amex training ground. All those taking part were members of Albion In The Community’s disability programmes.
