A PERVERT who sexually abusing a boy in the 1980s had his sentence delayed in court.

Richard Turner admitted seven counts on the boy who was aged between nine and 15 in Sussex.

The boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, reported the crimes between 1985 and 1991.

It included two counts of indecency with a child, three counts of indecent assault on a male person, and two counts of buggery.

At Lewes Crown Court, Judge Christine Laing QC was told that Turner, now 74, has an elderly mother who he lives with and is a full-time carer for.

James Yates, defending Turner, asked the judge for an adjournment to allow Turner to make new arrangements for her care.

He said Turner has disabled siblings, and his elderly mother suffers from fibromyalgia.

“He needs a little more time in order to get his affairs in order and make sure his mother is properly cared for,” Mr Yates said.

Turner, of North End, Ditchling, will have to transfer his mother into permanent care.

Judge Laing QC agreed to the delay and said Turner must sign in at Burgess Hill Police Station before passing sentence on Monday.

She told him : “I will put this matter back. You need to make some swift arrangements. The fact I have given you this opportunity to sort things out is simply for your mother. It is no indication of the final sentence.”
