NEWS of more migrants and refugees arriving on a Sussex beach is a stark reminder that this crisis will not go away any time soon.

As the French government moves in on refugee camps in Dunkirk and Calais, we can expect more desperate asylum seekers attempting to make their way to British shores.

While it is clear the camp system in France was not in the interest of the government or refugees, simply clearing the camps will only make the problem worse.

Now it will be harder to keep track of asylum seekers and ensure they get the support they need.

And it increases the likelihood these desperate people will make the dangerous crossing over the channel to our shores, risking their lives in the process.

We have seen pictures of dead refugees washed up in beaches all over Europe. We must ensure the same does not happen here.

The refugee crisis is a massive problem which will require a very complex solution.

But whatever solution is worked out must be a product of negotiations between our Government, France, and the EU.

Whatever you think of the EU, the way it has dealt with the refugee crisis is not ideal.

Thousands have died making the crossing across the Mediterranean, while camps in Greece are bursting with asylum seekers.

While we may not have much say over what happens in southern Europe, we must ensure refugees are cared for in our part of the continent.

Brexit may go away at some point, but the refugee crisis most likely will not.

We must find a solution to the suffering.
