A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of a seafront rape.
Detectives are investigating the report made by a 26-year-old woman who was walking in New Parade off the A259 in East Worthing on September 8.
She reported being approached by a man who asked her for directions, but took her to the beach then allegedly raped her.
Now officers say an 18-year-old man was arrested in Worthing yesterday on suspicion of rape. After interview he was released on police bail until October 13.
Detective Sergeant Eva Barwis thanked people for information after a public appeal. Anyone who can help can call 101 and quote Operation Neston.
