A MAN accused of multiple child sex offences has gone missing during his trial.

Craig McAndrew absconded while on court bail part way through the hearing at Lewes Crown Court.

The 34-year-old removals man faces charges of sexual assault on two girls known to him on multiple occasions.

His trial started on September 9, but by lunch the next day, he fled.

The court has issued a warrant for his arrest, but McAndrew remains missing.

Charges against him include eight offences against one girl and two against another, both of whom were known to him in Newhaven between 2016 and 2018.

The trial continued, and McAndrew, of no fixed address, was found guilty of all charges on Monday.

He is white, 5ft 9ins, with short straight ginger hair and green eyes.

Police do not know what he could be wearing, but say he does not have access to a vehicle.

Officers think he may be in the Watford area of Hertfordshire where he grew up.

Detective Constable Julie Nightingale said: "We are in touch with colleagues in Hertfordshire Constabulary who are assisting in the search but if you have seen McAndrew in Herts or in Sussex please contact us right away on 101 or 999, quoting serial 737 of 19/09."
