THE YouTube star taking part in Strictly Come Dancing has said she would love to win the show.

Saffron Barker, from Brighton, takes her first steps on the dancefloor tonight and is hoping to go all the way in the competition.

The 19-year-old has been partnered with AJ Pritchard for the show and will kick-off her run on Strictly by dancing the Tango tonight.

Speaking exclusively to The Argus, Saffron said: “I would love to win Strictly but at the moment I’m taking things one week at a time.

“I’m so excited to do the Tango, it’s the one I really wanted to do.

“I expected training to be hard but in reality it was a lot harder than I was expecting.

“AJ has been so calm and patient with me.

“He comes across as very excited and bubbly on screen but he’s also got a very calming personality.”

Throughout her run on the show Saffron will be spreading her training time across Brighton, Hove and London and admits she prefers her base close to home so she can sleep in her own bed at night.

The online celebrity is also hoping to show her personality to a whole new audience.

She currently has more than two million subscribers on her YouTube channel, most of whom are 25 and under.

But Saffron hopes Strictly’s older audience will take to her the same way her fans have.

Born and bred in Brighton, Saffron attended Longhill High School before deciding against college to start her YouTube career. She now lives in a luxury house in the centre of the city.

And the teenager says there is nowhere in the world she’d rather be.

She said: “Brighton is so diverse and has so much history. I love spending time at the beach and in the city centre.

“I don’t see myself ever moving out of Brighton.”

Saffron dances the Tango with AJ on Strictly Come Dancing tonight at 7pm.
