JEREMY Corbyn made a surprise appearance at a Brighton club last night.

The Labour leader took to the stage at Shooshh nightclub in King’s Road and delivered an off-the-cuff speech amid confetti cannon, strobe lights, and dry ice.

Afterwards, the DJ said: “I don’t think we’ve ever had a speech like that in a nightclub” – before breaking into a rendition of Stormzy’s “All that matters”.

Corbyn’s address appeared unscripted, and covered Brexit, the Irish border, social policy, racism, and the environment.

To cheers of “Oh Jeremy Corbyn”, he said: “I’m proud to lead this Labour party, proud to lead us into a Labour government that will on the world stage focus on peace, justice, environment sustainability and human rights, to bring about a better standard all around. That surely is something worth campaigning for.”

Almost 300 people were at the club, many of them from the Communication Workers Union. But a large number were regular clubgoers out for fresher’s week.

Bella Ellis, 22, said: “I literally don’t know anything about politics. I don’t know who this guy is. I was just in the club.”

Corbyn’s speech took place at 10pm, and the night continued well into the small hours.

Journalist Owen Jones was at the event, and shadow education secretary Angela Rayner took to the decks in a flat peak and danced among the crowd.

Club photographer Lauren Mabbett, 23, said: “I just came in for a normal work day. It was incredible. I was so shocked, I just couldn’t stop snapping.”

The conference ends tomorrow.
