THE most unaffordable area for housing in Brighton has been revealed.
Figures from the House of Commons Library show the average house price in Brighton Pavilion constituency is £375,000, more than 12 times the average salary of £30,300.
That is £25,000 more than Hove, where house prices are 11.7 times as high as the median wage.
And that is £55,000 more than Brighton Kemptown, where house prices are 11 times more than the average salary.
Brighton Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas said “radical housing policies” were needed to address the crisis, including rent controls and more social housing.
“A roof over your head is a fundamental human right, and it is shameful so many people are being denied that.”
