TWO boys arrested in connection with a double stabbing have been released on bail.

But the pair, aged 13 and 14, must adhere to "strict conditions", police say.

An altercation broke out at about 5pm at Goring Station on Wednesday and a 16-year-old boy was stabbed repeatedly.

The Argus:

He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious injuries.

The boy remains at the hospital in a stable condition.

An area search, assisted by the police helicopter and British Transport Police, was conducted and the two boys were detained.

An hour earlier another 16-year-old boy was stabbed in South Farm Road, Worthing.

The Argus:

He sustained minor injuries to his right arm and was taken to hospital, but has since been discharged.

Chief inspector Sarah Leadbeatter said: “Following on from the assaults on Tuesday, we have increased our patrols within the local area and are working closely with our partners to reassure our local communities and young people.

The Argus:

"This behaviour is completely unacceptable and we are working with partners to ensure that those people responsible are held to account.

The Argus:

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed these two incidents or noticed anything suspicious to report this information to us without delay as our investigation is ongoing.”

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "A 13 and 14-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and have been released on police bail with strict conditions until October 28.
