A WEATHER warning for rain is in place across parts of the county.

Areas of West Sussex are being warned they should expect further heavy rainfall throughout this morning which could lead to flooding.

A Met Office spokesman advised drivers to be careful due to surface water on the roads.

A spokesman said: "There's a lot of water on the ground this morning after last night's rain so take care if you're heading out this Sunday morning."

A spokesman for West Sussex County Council added: "Looks like another soggy start to Sunday is in store.

"The Met Office has extended its yellow weather warning to parts of West Sussex."

The yellow weather warning for rain narrowly misses Polegate and Eastbourne.
