A TEENAGER stopped by police was found to be carrying a sword.
Jack Maker had taken a motorbike without consent of the owner in Brighton.
He then assaulted PC Alex Barrett and resisted arrest by PC Louie Wellfare when they stopped him in Wiston Road, Brighton.
They found him in possession of the blade.
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court the 18-year-old admitted assaulting the officer, resisting arrest, possession of a bladed article, driving without insurance and taking a vehicle without consent.
Maker, of Crabtree Avenue, Brighton, was told his offences were serious enough to justify a suspended prison sentence.
He was ordered to complete 36 rehabilitation sessions and pay a £115 surcharge and £85 costs.
Magistrates sentenced him to an eight-week suspended jail term.
Meanwhile Maker was also banned from driving for six months.
