A MAN smashed through the front door of a takeaway and stole two electronic tablets in an early morning raid.

CCTV captured the moment the man, who is yet to be identified, charged through the front of Joeie’s Takeaway in Viaduct Road, Brighton.

Police are now hunting the thief who broke in to the takeaway on September 27.

Owner Joe Ghebrial said the takeaway will no longer be on Deliveroo after the raider stole the tablet it uses for the service.

He said: “They stole our tablets for Uber and Deliveroo.

“I’m going to cancel my account – I’m not going to pay for another tablet.

“I don’t understand why they do this, they have caused damage to the door and the glass which has cost us £500 to fix,

“My other shop, Sobs in Seven Dials, has been targeted three times.”

In the video, the man can be seen kicking the door of Joeie’s seven times. After the door gives way, the raider can be seen falling sideways into the shop before pulling himself to his feet.

He then approaches the till, takes the tablets and makes his escape.

Mr Ghebrial said: “They’re sending somebody to come and do the finger prints.

“The other guy who stole from me I found myself and he has been sentenced to three months in prison.”

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “At 10.55am on Friday, September 27, we received a report that just under five hours earlier a burglary had occurred at Joeie’s Pizza and two tablets had been stolen.

“CCTV of the offence has been supplied to the police.

“The person in the CCTV has not been identified at this stage and enquiries are continuing.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police online at or by calling 101, quoting serial 515 of 08/10.

This follows a number of other similar incidents around Brighton and Hove this year.

In September, prolific burglar Muhhammed Ahmed, was jailed for one year.

Ahmed, of Ingram Crescent West, Hove, admitted eight charges of burglary, breaching a conditional discharge and possession of cocaine.

The court was told that Ahmed broke into Flowers Unlimited in Portland Road, Billies cafe in Goldstone Villas, and Harrisons of Hove in Montefiore Road in June.
