MASKED raiders broke into a home brandishing a hammer, baseball bat and machete.
The trio entered a property in Clifton Road, Worthing at 7.30pm on Tuesday.
They then fled the scene after the suspected aggravated burglary, and police believe they drove a blue hatchback car.
Despite a search, the suspects remain at large.
Richard Shakesheff, investigating, said: “The suspects entered the property at a time when the majority of neighbours would have been at home.
“Understandably the victims have been left shaken by this experience and they are receiving all the relevant support during this time.”
He appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to help the investigation by reporting online or calling 101 and quoting 1281 of 08/10.
