A RESIDENT detained a teenager after boys were seen slashing a car tyre.
The 15-year-old boy was detained by a resident in Saltwood Road, Seaford, yesterday evening.
Two other boys were spotted attacking a car, but had ran off before the police arrived.
Officers were called at 8.53pm and found a kitchen knife and a slashed tyre.
But they could not find the boys who had run off and no damage was found on any other cars parked nearby.
Police said there was no evidence to justify further action against the 15-year-old boy.
Lewes District Inspector, Ed Ripley, said: "Incidents of this nature are rare and most young people are respectful and well behaved.
"Operation Safety has increased our resource to tackle knife crime across Sussex and the team will continue to patrol the local area."
