BATTLE rock band Keane stormed the charts upon their return this year.
The Sussex band have had a huge career, but in today’s Timeout we are looking at seven more bands, or at least band members, and singers who have links to our county.
The Cure formed in Crawley in 1976. Singer Robert Smith is the only original member of the band left.
Leo Sayer has had a lengthy solo career since bursting on the scene in 1973. The singer was born in Shoreham.
The Levellers formed in Brighton in 1988 and have released 11 studio albums in their career. They also played to one of the biggest ever crowds at Glastonbury in 1994 - when they performed to an estimated 300,000 people.
Madness singer Graham “Suggs” McPherson joined the band in 1977. The 58 year old was born in Hastings.
Originally from Australia, Nick Cave now calls Brighton home.
More recently The Kooks formed in Brighton in 2004. The band have released five studio albums in that time.
Brett Anderson of Suede hails from Lindfield, near Haywards Heath. He formed the rock band in 1989.
