A DOCTOR faces being struck off after a tribunal found he punched two others in the face.

A Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) hearing held on October 8 found that Brighton-based Dr Abdul Basit punched another Brighton doctor in the face and ear on May 15, 2016.

It also found that he pushed, shoved and squeezed the same doctor’s neck on one or more occasions between February and July that year.

The hearing also found that on May 15, 2016, he punched another doctor in the face.

The tribunal has now adjourned until March 2 next year when it will decide whether Dr Basit’s fitness to practise is impaired because of his misconduct.

The MPTS can impose a number of sanctions on doctors whose fitness to practise is found to be impaired.

These include warnings, suspensions and being struck off.
